Chocolate Raspberry Bars

Tangy raspberries and fudgey chocolate are the perfect match in these nutty dessert bars.

Makes: 12 Servings (2 bars per serving)


6 squares unsweetened chocolate, divided
¾ cup butter or margarine
2 cups sugar
6 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup flour
1 cup coarsely chopped toasted almonds
1 (12-ounce) jar raspberry jam, divided
6 squares semisweet chocolate
1 cup whipping cream


Place 4 squares of unsweetened chocolate and butter in a large microwavable bowl.

Cook on HIGH for 2 minutes or until butter is melted. Stir until chocolate is completely melted. Stir in sugar, eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour and nuts and mix until blended. Spread in a 13 X 9 X 2-inch baking pan lined with aluminum foil.

Bake at 325º F for 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Do not over-bake. Cool in pan.

Spread half of jam over bars. Combine remaining unsweetened chocolate squares with sweetened chocolate squares in a bowl.

lace cream in a saucepan or in the microwave and bring to a simmering stage. Pour over chocolate and stir until smooth. Stir in jam. Spread chocolate mixture over jam layer.

Refrigerate for 2 hours.
