It’s August already and whether we’re ready or not, school is back in session. As sad as it is to see summer ending, the beginning of the school year is an exciting time for students, teachers, and parents. Preparing for the school year is overwhelming – Shopping for new clothes, shoes, and an assortment of different school supplies.
Here are some back to school tips that will save time and money, while providing the best nutrition for you and your family.
Plan your meals:
Making a diet plan is a wonderful way to keep you and your family well fed. The first few weeks of school are so overwhelming, and it’s often easy to save time by dining out. Why not save money on mapping out your meals? Find some time to make a chart that includes meal ideas for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks for the week. To simplify the process even more, have your meal chart ready before Sunday and reserve some time to go to the grocery store. Preparing meals in advance allows healthy go-to options when you’re crunched for time.
“Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” This is probably not the first time you’ve ever heard this infamous statement, and it won’t be your last. Pack a Simple and Filling Snack:
Incorporating a snack into daily eating routines are important in living a healthy lifestyle. It is even more important to pack a simple and filling snack for your child to eat at school, in order to keep them tied over until lunch or an after-school meal. A hard-boiled egg is a perfect snack to pack for your child. It’s packed full of protein and can easily be stored in any container or plastic bag.
