The North Carolina Egg Association is a statewide organization that was established in 1960 to promote table eggs for the egg producers and processors. Ranking twelfth in egg production in the United States, North Carolina has about 9 million layers that produce over 7 1/2 million table eggs per day. Eggs are North Carolina's eighth largest cash farm product.
Our association consists of approximately 75 members. They establish all of the polices of our membership and organization. The association maintains a full-time staff and the operating funds of the North Carolina Egg Association are derived totally from its membership.
The North Carolina Egg Association was formed to assist shell egg producers in the state of North Carolina with promotion, research, and consumer education programs. Producer members establish our policies and set priorities for reaching the desired goals.
The NC Egg Association is the egg farmer's link to consumers in communicating the nutritional and economical value of the incredible egg. We also represent a Certified Egg Program, adopted by United Egg Producers, to assure the eggs displaying this certification come from hens living in humane conditions, with attention to living environment, health care and treatment. These standards were developed by an independent scientific advisory committee composed of scientists from government agencies, academia and the U.S. Humane Association.
The North Carolina Egg Association works closely with the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, North Carolina State University, and the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service to utilize their marketing programs, 4-H projects and research to educate consumers of all ages about eggs.
